Is there such a measure?I've often thought about trying to do better than my crappy salary by starting my own business, but what are the chances of success? I tend to be a bit of a coaster the office, perhaps having a stake in the business would give me the motivation I need.Any tips for what you need to do not do in order to be successful?

I work for a landscaping sweeping company and my boss asked if I'd like to buy out the sweeping part of the business for $50000, thats including all 15 commercial contracts that he has right now with about 10 other contracts within the year and 2 brand new $40000 sweeper trucks . I basicaly run the business, but I need a startup loan to officiate that.The main reason he is selling is with soaring gas prices and my boss starting up a bar and running landscaping sweeping he needs to gain more sweeping contracts which equals more time which he doesnt really have time for. If anyone can give me some advice or even help Id greatly appreciate it.
Government grants/ small business startup loans....?
I have a business plan, and a building picked out that I would like to purchase. I have looked at several websites including grants.gov and sba.com to find a way of getting the money I need, and haven't had much luck. I would love to get a grant, but it is really hard to find grants that I qualify for. I have horrible credit, so a loan is also going to be difficult to get unless I can find a way to get financed using something other than my own personal credit history. I don't have anyone to co sign for me, either. However, I am confident that my business will be successful, due to the fact that I have absolutely no competition whatsoever in my area. I also have a unique and sound business plan and some very good ideas. Has anyone here ever gotten a grant for this purpose? How about a business loan with bad credit? Any ideas? I am starting a small business. I have everything organized and ready to go. Since the business is just starting I will be the only person working. The company will be in the marketing lead generation field. Mostly online marketing and online lead generation. I will be working out of my professional home office until I get business rolling. I have a cell phone , that I have had for years, the area code does not even match the state in which I stay in now. Should I get a separate cell phone for my business?
